Dorcas Meadowes

FULL NAME: Dorcas Calliope Meadowes
NICKNAME(S): Cassie, Dor. If you're a friend, she lets you call her Dork. If you're not, then you're in big trouble.
AGE/BIRTHDAY: 17/July 8, 1960
BLOOD STATUS: Pureblood
SEXUALITY: Heterosexual
JOURNAL: [info]doorcase
APPEARANCE: Dorcas had a natural beauty to her, typical even, considering her honey blonde hair and bright blue eyes. She had the qualities of the picture child, angelic in presentation, with light fair skin, high cheek bones accentuated by the perfect set of dimples. She stands at 5'4, only tad bit taller than most girls in Hogwarts. Not that it mattered since she had a slender build. Not to say she was perfect, but she was ideal, blessed with the right qualities that pureblood society defined to be pretty. She did come from an ancient line of purebloods, after all. Then again, she wasn't the type to actually boast about it and shove it into other people's face. In fact, she was the type to dress simply in a pair of comfortable trousers or perhaps a comfy sweater. Not that she could get away with dressing down completely since the quality of her clothing was nothing less than the best.

PERSONALITY:  Dorcas Meadowes couldn't have been the perfect candidate for the most ideal Gryffindor. She was courageous, brave and daring. She wasn't afraid to tackle challenges, perform activities and try new experiences. Perhaps, she might be even too daring in the way that she immediately acts before fear has any chances to even get to her. Reckless some would say, but Dorcas would argue it was quick-wittedness - at least, when the things she had done ended up being right. She might be reckless, but at least fear wasn't in the way. After all, fear was the root of many problems and quite honestly, Dorcas would like to avoid problems at any cost.

Call it positive thinking but Dorcas believed that there was a solution for everything - especially one that she can provide. She felt like it was her job to make things easier for others. She was pretty independent, favoring to do things by herself, as she felt like she was burdening others when asking for her. Call it helpful, but it was really more like she tries to protect everyone from feeling pain in that she'd much rather do things herself and resolve other people's problems herself than have them be hurt. In fact, it made her a great friend to have. She was loyal to those she trust. She would do anything to protect them and help them with their problems. Which is quite ironic considering she doesn't enjoy complications when it came to herself. When it came to her own problems, Dorcas avoided it like a plague, favoring to forget about it and move on without resolving it and believing that this was a solution in itself.

Her beliefs were quite powerful after all. She fought strongly for everything she believed in. She stood for what was right and what was good in this world. If anyone deterred her from her beliefs, she would often just disregard them. She was firm in her beliefs and there were barely anyone who could sway them. She knows she was probably the most stubborn person anyone could meet, but she was proud of it, preferring to merely call it a determination that many couldn't understand.

Many people did try to understand her. In fact, a lot of people enjoyed her company, considering that she was charming and friendly in herself. She easily judges people however, often coming easily to conclusions about a person or a person's actions. Perhaps, it was her quick-wittedness coming into negative play, but it would take a while for her to truly develop a trusting relationship with someone, as they often needed to get past her tendency to make bad first impressions. But it wasn't even first impressions however, as Dorcas often judged others especially those she does not trust, and thus easily igniting wrong feelings of anger, jealously, and disappointment. She wasn't temperamental per se, but she can be your worse nightmare if you do wrong to her or any of her loved ones.

All in all, Dorcas believes to live life as light-hearted and problem free as she can for herself and for everyone around her - and will stop at nothing to make sure it remained to be so.
HISTORY
• Dorian Meadowes (FATHER, PUREBLOOD, 50 YEARS OLD, FORMER GRYFFINDOR - Head of the Obliviator Team at the DMLE).
→ Dorian Meadowes had a really close relationship with her daughter. If anything, Dorcas was a daddy's girl and she grew up spending a lot of time with her father. He is very protective of her but is also quite lenient when convinced by Dorcas.
• Lucille Meadowes nee Peverell (MOTHER, PUREBLOOD, 48 YEARS OLD, FORMER RAVENCLAW) - Senior Secretary for the Auror's Office.)
→ Dorcas and her mother weren't as close as her and her father. If Dorian spoiled her, Lucille disciplined the girl. In fact, she was Dorcas' primary influence in academics and life. Nonetheless, she loves her mother but would often times try to hide certain things from her in favor of not getting in trouble.
• Lucas Connor Meadowes (YOUNGER BROTHER, PUREBLOOD, 14/15, TBD.)
→ TBD AND AVAILABLE FOR PLAY!

Dorcas Calliope Meadowes was born to pureblood couple Dorian and Lucille Meadowes on one rainy spring afternoon. The weather seemed to be fitting for the critical situations that followed for Dorcas' birth came a month earlier than expected. Lucille had picked up an extra shift as the secretary intern at the Auror's office when her water broke and Auror's themselves had to rush her into St. Mungo's. Dorian, who was out on a mission, was immediately notified, and had almost let a muggle see him apparate out in his rush. But it was the least of his worries, especially as he walked into Lucille's room with Healers surrounded all around her wife's limp and sedated body. Procedures were performed and Dorian's screaming head had to be escorted out of the room himself, but finally a baby's cry engulfed the whole room bringing relief to both the parents and the Healers. Dorcas' came out stable but not as healthy as a normal baby was. She was premature and hadn't fully developed certain organs. She was kept under observation and treatment by the Healers, and it was questionable whether she would make it through.

But even having just come out of her mother's womb, Dorcas was already a fighter. Although it took a good week for her to be observed and treated, Dorcas lives and grew as any normal baby would. Soon enough, Dorian and Lucille was bringing home their first born, feeling much more protective than ever, especially after the scare they almost had of losing their little one. Dorian particularly was protective over his daughter, making sure that as she grew up, no harm or pain was to be around her ever. He somewhat spoiled his little girl, while Lucille made sure Dorcas' grew up with ambition. Lucille, after all, wanted for her daughter to become successful in the future and live up to the family name - more particularly live up to what Lucille wanted for herself and was unable to, considering the physical condition of her body. You see, Lucille had a rare disease wherein if her body was overly stressed, her systems would breakdown in fatigue. She never had the chance to pursue her wanted career as an Auror, which she now wanted for her daughter, Dorcas.

For the most part, Dorcas childhood was quite enjoyable. Dorian continued to spoil her and Lucille continued to push her ambitions by encouraging her to read books or perhaps play with a toy wand and telling her stories of infamous Aurors. With her only one year younger brother Lucas, it was never lacking in company either. The only time that something bad ever happened significantly was when she was nine and her brother wanted to show her the bird's nest he saw on the tree in their backyard. But Dorcas who was concentrating on levitating a cup with her eyes and trying to force her first signs of magic out of her ignored her brother and brushed him off. It was only until she heard a loud cry and a echoing sound of breaking did her concentration break. And soon enough she found herself in St. Mungo's tearing up at the sight of the Healer looking over her brother's unconcious body, feeling partly responsible that she didn't watch over her brother. Least to say from then on, she did everything she could to protect him and keep him away from harm.

Hogwarts came along and it was definitely hard for Dorcas to leave Lucas, but her brother was going to join her in a year anyway. And besides, she had a whole new experience to keep her preoccupied. Hogwarts' became Dorcas' new adventure as she came to grow in her skills and interests - espeicially in wand work and practical matters. Lucille had after all strived for her daughter to be an Auror and though she didn't exactly force the thought on her, she influenced Dorcas' interests in spells and by the time the thoughts of careers came along, Dorcas knew she wanted to be an Auror. And so she worked for it all through Hogwarts, joining the Dueling and Charms Club and making sure she excelled in classes needed for Auror training.

But of course, Hogwarts wasn't just her playground for a career, but it was also a place she grew socially. She was friendly and nature and had easily made many friendships and relationships. She easily stood out in the crowd, having an outgoing and courageous personality that often making others laugh. She was somewhat opinionated and wasn't afraid to let others know what she thought and so she often found herself sticking up for those without a voice, which was how she had met her best friend, Hestia Jones. She found the Ravenclaw being taken advantage by Slimy Slytherins and her little first year self didn't even hesitate to run up to the third year boys to tell them to sod off. To anyone else, she probably should have thought it through, but to Dorcas there really wasn't anything they can do. Not that she thought it through, but she got lucky anyway and was able to save Hestia from the Slytherins.

Their friendship was fate anyway. As the years progressed, Dorcas found herself relying on Hestia a lot in times where reason wasn't exactly on her side. She owed a lot to her best friend, who often stopped her from doing something reckless or unreasonable. Dorcas, on the other hand, pulled the shy Ravenclaw around, bringing a bright personality out in Hestia, forcing her into situations that challenged her and into daring Hogwarts adventures that both girls enjoyed.

Now in their last year of Hogwarts, Dorcas could only look forward to another year of much happenings. But with the war at hand and the tension spreading through the wizarding world, Dorcas knew that her adventures would be much more serious than merely just telling people to sod off in the library any longer.
